Q & A with MATT SOCCI

a. Where are you from?

Originally from Massachusetts, now live in the Philadelphia area.

b. Instagram name

@mattsoccifit

c. What motivates you to train?

Weight training is a stress reliever for me. I’m a certified personal training and a special education high school teacher. I want to be a good role model of health and wellness for the children I teach. I want my students to realize the importance of a leading a healthy lifestyle, achieving goals, and improving self-confidence.

d. What’s your greatest success in lifting?

Although I’ve never competed my greatest success is getting to the point where other gym goers are asking me questions about workouts, exercises, diet etc. Their questions motivate me and I enjoy helping others on their fitness journey.

e. What music do you listen to when training?

I listen to a combination of electronic, hip-hop, and rock when working out. It really depends on my mood that day. Nothing beats the Rocky Story album!

f. Who is your bodybuilding inspiration?

I’ve always been inspired by the old school bodybuilders: Frank Zane, Arnold, Franco Columbu, Ronnie Coleman. In my early 20’s I used Greg Plitt’s intense routines when I first started getting serious about bodybuilding.

g. Do you have any shout outs or people you’d like to thank?

I want to give a shout out and thanks to my fellow friends and trainers at Aspiring Champions in King of Prussia, PA. Stu, Matty, Steve, Adam, Sam and Reither. You guys are my boys! Thanks for the daily motivation!
