Lifter of the Week - Robert Gignac

Q & A with ROBERT

 

a. Where are you from?

Salmon Arm B.C. Canada

 

b. What motivates you to train?

How the body physicaly changes shape. How you can change one body part to grow and one to get smaller. Also the feeling you get from reaching a bigger lift. To make that goal you set.

 

c. What’s your greatest success in bodybuilding?

Not in bodybuilding. I never really had the interest in that sport. My passion was in Powerlifting, in which I competed when I was in my 20`s which is way back in the 80`s. I did medal in a couple of meets which was truly a lot of fun.

 

d. What music do you listen to when training?

The go to music is Greta Van Fleet, Shinedown, Iron Maden and of course Dirty Honey

 

e. Who is your bodybuilding inspiration?

My first weightlifting inspiration was Segio Olivia. (The Myth) a former Olympic athlete who left Cuba and competed and won three Mr Olympia titles. He`s the last man to beat Arnold in the Mr. Olympia contest.

 

f. What are your dreams and or what excites you?

I started weightlifting in the early 80`s and now it`s 2021 so I`m now in my late 50`s I feel great, still like to lift heavy and go for my best lift`s when I think I can. I enjoy BJJ martial arts and help coach High School Wrestling. Love the outdoors and being with the girl of my dreams. My wife of 33yrs.

 

g. Do you have any shout outs or people you’d like to thank?

My wife for putting up with my love of the gym.
