6 TOP WEIGHT LIFTING STRAP BRANDS REVIEWED - Rip Toned

6 TOP WEIGHT LIFTING STRAP BRANDS REVIEWED

I’m going to start this lifting strap  review with a confession…

Since all of these wrist straps were purchased using company money, technically this review post is sponsored by my own company.

Obviously, I will likely be a tad bit biased when I tell you to buy my Rip Toned Lifting Straps, but I will do my best to objectively present the data as I see it and allow you to make your own decision.

There are definitely other companies making quality weightlifting accessories and I have no problem sharing those with you as well as our own.

Of course, I did not end up buying EVERY set of lifting straps on the market.

Since Amazon.com is a major outlet for us I chose to compare our Rip Toned straps with the other top contenders on Amazon. There are dozens of others but I’m wasn't interested in spending that much money and investing that much time, so I went for what I believed to be the top sellers and most popular.

Each set of lifting straps were graded on these 5 factors…

  1. How effective are the straps in actual gym use?
  2. What is the quality of material used?
  3. Would I recommend this to a friend?
  4. Did I enjoy the customer service?
  5. What is the quality of the workmanship?

I’m going to be really honest and tell you which ones I believe are lacking in certain areas as well which ones I would recommend my best friend to buy. If you happen to be one of my competitors reading this and I gave your lifting straps a negative review, think of it as an opportunity to improve and provide a better buying experience for your customers... fix the issue, get back to me with the improvements and I will be happy to update my review!

My intent is not to bash any product owners, but to help product buyers with an objective review of the best selling lifting straps.

With that said, there were some clear winners!

I'm not sure about you, but personally I don’t want to read long winded articles. So to do you a "solid" in this section I’ve ranked the lifting straps that I am reviewing from best to "least best".

To find a more in-depth explanation on my findings, simply scroll down to where I’ve reviewed that particular weightlifting strap product.

Overall Winner = Rip Toned Lifting Straps (don't believe me... look below)

2nd Place = With a quality strap #2 goes to the Schiek lifting strap

3rd Place = Also with a quality strap #3 goes to the Harbinger weight lifting straps

4th Place = Goes to Valeo lifting straps

5th Place = Grizzly lifting straps (great quality but will explain position in detail below)

6th Place = Pulling up the rear are the Altus cotton lifting straps

RIP TONED LIFTING STRAPS

Rip Toned designed these straps so they could be used at the competitive lifting caliber. They only used the highest quality materials so they could comfortably offer their Lifetime Replacement Warranty.

Although they are designed so a pro can use them, any lifter of any age or level of experience will gain immediate benefits from these straps.

Rip Toned, from listening to their customers knew many like an extra wrap around the bar so they made the straps over 2" longer than most of the competition. The Rip Toned strap measures in at 22 3/4".

They also noticed many other straps had issues with the padding ripping off so they made sure the padding was sewn all around the perimeter of the padding and not just spot stitching the corners.

The cotton strap used is high grade but while making sure it is a flexible material so they can be used right out of the packaging without any need to break them in.

Not only do we make sure we use the highest quality materials we also take the time and attention to detail while crafting our weight lifting straps. We make sure all our straps are uniform, the stitching is clean and consistent. As mentioned above we don't skimp on attaching the padding to the cotton and package it all in a nifty reusable snap pouch.

When using the straps for any required weight lifting exercise, you will get what is expected. A no slip grip. The cotton material along with the added length of strap provides the maximum grip necessary even for the heaviest of lifting.

To see what other lifters think of the Rip Toned straps check out the thousands of 5 Star reviews on Amazon by clicking here.

Naturally since Rip Toned are our straps I would for sure recommend them to a friend. But in all honesty if I didn't believe our product was top notch I would be embarrassed to tell my friend about them if they were trash.

Our customer service team shows a 0.7 hour response time to messages sent. We also boast a 4.9 out of 5 Star Seller Rating based on over hundreds of  customer feedback ratings over the past 12 months.

The only main complaint we have had is with people with smaller wrists sometimes find the padding is too large and gets in the way of really tightening the strap properly. So, we responded by shortening the padding slightly to solve this issue.

Yes, we truly do offer a Lifetime Replacement Warranty and welcome your questions, feedback or suggestions.

SCHIEK LIFTING STRAPS

Schiek manufactures a very well put together lifting strap.

They perform very well in the trenches and will give you the confidence you need when lifting weight beyond your grip strength limits.

The cotton strap used is a very good quality and should provide a long life of use. The only minor thing we noticed was the strap is a bit stiff right out of the package and will require a break in period before they are properly loosened up. This is not a major drawback and shouldn't be a deterrent for anyone leaning toward this brand.

The strap is a typical 20" long.

The padding used is a nice quality neoprene with a thickness I appreciated for good comfort. They do a great job of stitching the padding to the strap all around the perimeter and go one step further and do some stitching on the inner part, which is a nice touch.

The workmanship is well done with nice attention to detail.

These are a strap I would recommend to a friend without hesitation.

The question I emailed to Home Fitness who sells these straps on Amazon.com was responded to within 24 hours with a professional and thorough answer. Home Fitness also sports a 4.9 out of 5 Star seller rating over the past 12 months.

Well done!

HARBINGER LIFTING STRAPS

Harbinger also manufactures a very well put together powerlifting strap.

The Harbinger strap is also a strong player where it counts... in the gym. They perform very well allowing you to lift weight beyond your grip strength limits. The material used grips well on the bar so loosing your grip is not a concern.

The cotton strap used is top quality and should provide a long life of use and abuse. It is the heaviest cotton strap of all the straps reviewed. The only minor thing we noticed was the strap is a bit stiff right out of the package and will require a break in period before they are properly loosened up. This is not a major drawback and shouldn't be a deterrent for anyone leaning toward this brand. These straps are even a touch stiffer then the Schiek straps.

The strap is a hair longer than the Schiek at 20 1/2" long.

The padding used is a nice quality neoprene with a thickness I appreciated for good comfort. They only do 3 short strips of stitching on the padding along the short side and no stitching along the long edges of the pad or on the inner part. This is a bit of a concern for me as it makes the padding susceptible to tearing or ripping off.

Overall the workmanship is well done with nice attention to detail.

These are a strap I would recommend to a friend with my only hesitation being the lack of stitching all around the padding. Time will tell how well the padding holds up in the long run.

The question I emailed to Fit Shop who sells these straps on Amazon.com was responded to within a couple hours the same day with a professional and thorough answer. Fit Shop sports a very respectable 4.8 out of 5 Star seller rating over the past 12 months.

VALEO PADDED LIFTING STRAPS

Valeo offers a decent weightlifting strap.

The Valeo strap works well in the gym. They do what they're intended to do, they grip well on the bar and give the support needed.

The cotton strap is good quality but is definitely thinner than the lifting straps reviewed above and is a tad narrower than the Rip Toned straps. The material is nice and flexible right out of the box so there is no need for break in with these.

The strap is a couple inches longer than Harbinger and Schiek and just a hair shorter then Rip Toned.

The padding used is a decent quality neoprene. The neoprene is definitely thinner than the top 3 lifting straps. Valeo only do 4 short strips of stitching on the padding along the short side and no stitching along the long edges of the pad or on the inner part. This is a bit of a concern for me as it makes the padding susceptible to tearing or ripping off.

Overall the workmanship is well done with nice attention to detail.

These straps are decent contenders and should work fine but given the other options with the top 3, in all honesty I would not be quick to recommend them to a friend.

Don't get me wrong these straps will do the trick in the gym but due to the thinner strap and padding they will not have the expected life span of the 3 competitors.

GRIZZLY LIFTING STRAPS

Grizzly build a great quality padded lifting strap.

The Grizzly style is unique to all the lifting straps we reviewed. Instead of a loop in the cotton strap you put your hand through (like the other 5), with these there is a velcro strap with a plastic clasp you use to strap it around your wrist. There is then a cotton strap similar to the other contenders which is to wrap around the bar. There is also a neoprene on the inside of the part that straps around your wrist.

The Grizzly lifting strap works well in the gym. They grip well on the bar, provide lots of wraps and give very good support. I found the part that straps to my wrist to be a bit bulky and stiff which slightly limited my mobility.

The cotton strap is very good quality and should provide an excellent life span. The material is a bit stiff and will require some break in period.

The strap is nice and long and provides as many bar wraps as the Rip Toned strap.

The padding used is a good quality neoprene. The neoprene is an equivalent thickness to the top 3 lifting straps. Grizzly does 3 strips of stitching on the padding along the short side and no stitching along the long edges of the pad or on the inner part. This is a bit of a concern for me as it makes the padding susceptible to tearing or ripping off.

Overall the workmanship is very well done with nice attention to detail.

These straps are good contenders and will work fine for their intended purpose. Personally I didn't prefer the design of these and feel they would be cumbersome moving between sets if you were constantly having to put them on and take them off. As well with the bulky and stiff wrist strap I didn't find them as comfortable as some of the others.

These are an effective and well made lifting strap and you may personally prefer this design but due to my preference I could not give them a higher rating and as a result would be hesitant to recommend them.

ALTUS LIFTING STRAPS

Altus also offers a decent weightlifting strap.

The Altus strap will get the job done.

The strap is a couple inches longer than Harbinger and Schiek and just an inch shorter then Rip Toned.

The padding used is a decent quality neoprene however it's the thinnest of all the lifting straps we tested. Altus has the least amount of stitching fastening the padding to the cotton strap. They only do 3 short strips of stitching on the padding along the short side and no stitching along the long edges of the pad or on the inner part. This is a bit of a concern for me as it makes the padding susceptible to tearing or ripping off.

Overall the workmanship is well done with decent attention to detail.

These straps are also decent contenders and should work fine but given the other options with the top 3, in all honesty I would not be quick to recommend them to a friend.

Don't get me wrong these straps will do the trick in the gym but due to the thinner strap and thinnest padding they will not have the expected life span or comfort level of the 3 competitors.
