Q & A with AUGIE RICHTER

a. Where are you from?

I'm from northern Minnesota

b. Instagram name

@augie.deadlift

c. What motivates you to train?

I think training allows me a release from the stress of school and life in general. I'm motivated to keep bettering myself while also learning more about my body and it's capabilities. I want to have a long healthy life and taking care of my body is the best place to start. Ive dropped the idea of training to impress others recently too and just have fun with it. It makes me feel good.

d. What’s your greatest success in lifting?

My biggest success is that lifting has spurned the ability for me to coach others in the sport. Lifting helps me help others and that's a huge reward.

e. What music do you listen to when training?

I'm into really heavy metal mainly. I don't listen to much else. I love Slipknot.

f. Who is your weightlifting inspiration?

I am inspired by my coach. Tommy Schneider. He's a 93kg lifter like I plan to be and has a great work ethic. I make him mad often, but he's still there checking to keep me progressing. He's a real good friend outside of the gym as well.

g. Do you have any shout outs or people you’d like to thank?

My team, my Team Tommy peers, gopherbarbell, my lifelong training partners, and Elaina for letting me do stuff that breaks my toes.
